History matters.

Esports is a phenomenon that seems so new and so explosive to so many observers of computer games.

And because Virtual Sport is a kind of computer game, we thought it would make sense to explain a few things.

It helps to know not only what seems to happen today, but what happened yesterday.

Yesterday, the Pyramids looked a lot more like this.

But things change.

One of the most popular games in the world, Fortnite’s candy-colored violence seems to have been here forever.

More to the point, it sometimes seems that it will be here forever too.

We’ll see about that… but let’s have a little history, shall we?

The modern “Battle Royale” [killing everyone else, or having them die… and being the last one/last team standing] began well before Fortnite, with – among others, H1Z1.

Which was soon followed by Playerunknown’s BattleGround [PUBG].

And then, as PUBG faded, Fortnite arrived… less bloody… no less deadly.

And, yes, though the Battle Royale genre continues, there are already New Things: Auto Chess and Fall Guys [yet another Battle Royale].

But, over a hundred years ago, tennis looked like THAT… and now, a hundred years later, tennis STILL looks like THAT.

And people say… “well… that’s just tradition.”

And we say… “well, what do you think the tradition CAME FROM?”

A well-designed, well-supported game that has stood the test of time.

And, unlike those Pyramids, tennis just looks BETTER.

Also, unlike those Pyramids that are oh-so-slowly shrinking… Racket:Nx is about to explode into every corner of life.

We are about to see a lot more of it.

Why?

Because… just LOOK at this!

THAT’s why.

Watch. This. Space.
